Laughter at Bedtime

We went to the library today and brought home our usual heavy load of great books. This one was among the bunch. I read it to them before bed tonight. By the time we got to the end we were in a full fit of the giggles! But I'm not sure if it was the book or end of the day fatigue.

Library Books Due

We went to the library yesterday and paid the nice librarian more late fees. Funny how they're always happy to take my money. I've told my husband I'm trying to get better about this problem.
One thing I've done for awhile is have all the books in these plastic boxes. I know it's not pretty, but it helps keep the books in one place. Now thanks to Chrissie (because it was her idea), we are putting a sign on the front of the box to inform everyone when the books are due. I have great hopes that this will work.

Come Away My Beloved

Let me tell you a little about the book Come Away My Beloved written by Frances J. Roberts. (which I quote from periodically on this blog)

A couple years ago I was in the local Christian bookstore. I was looking for a book to use for my daily quiet time, a devotional of sorts. But I wasn't looking for the typical devotional. I often find "devotional" books very....hmmm, what shall I say? Uninspiring? Surfacey? (is that a word?)
Anyway, as I browsed the shelves, I picked up Come Away My Beloved. I thumbed through it and read a couple pages. Very quickly, I knew this was what I was searching for. I knew God had led me to it.
In it are short readings, each beginning with a scripture verse or passage. Most are written as God speaking to the reader and much of it is scripture - His promises that hold true forever. Here's one I just randomly opened to:

Title: Love Never Fails
Scripture: Love never fails. 1 Cor. 13:8
Behold, I am the Lord, your God; is anything too hard for Me? I am the light of the world, and the greatest darkness will never be able to quench that light. I will be to you a cloud to preserve you by day and a pillar of fire to protect you by night. Both in sunshine and in darkness, I shall be near you. You will delight in Me in your joys; and in your difficulty My love for you shall be as inescapably real as a blazing pillar of fire. Yes, all I was to Israel and more I shall be to you. For have I not promised to give you the desires of your heart, and the nations for your inheritance (see Psalm 2:8)?

It goes on from there a couple more paragraphs.

For me, Come Away My Beloved has not replaced my Bible, but has inspired me to read it more. It has been used by God to remind me of His great and undying love for me and the world. It was spoken gentle reminders to lean into Him and look to Him for all I need.
